Week 10 - Interesting Flyer

Flyer

In my opinion, the best flyer belongs to Dominos Pizza. This is the flyer where most people will keep when they saw it. Why? The reason is because it provides a variety of Pizza’s they have in Dominos and it is great for those who are lazy to have lunch/dinner outside, delivery service is the best choise they have. Other than providing the Menu, another important thing they have is the “cutable” coupons. RM23 for 2 regular pizzas and breadsticks or other promotions they offer.

Their flyers always play with colours, the most common is red, blue and white, because that represents their Dominos’ logo. The first page are usually their new pizza flavour. One of it contains the headline “Double Loaded Chicken”, this attracts people who loves to be fed with extra food.  There is a benefit infront of it stating extra smoked chicken breast at 50% off normal price. What people normally think is more food, pay less. That’s what every consumers want!

Most importantly, people don’t like to wait for food, and their flyer, stated with huge font “30MINUTES DELIVERY” , this gives a promise to consumers and they can be trusted. The information they provide is clear, which is the price, the flavour with what ingredients, what is included in promotion pack and other fantastic add-on deals. Ofcourse they never forget to include in the images of those delicious pizza and snacks. They have the call to action approach, where they wrote “Call” and “Order online” along with huge font of their phone number and also their email.

Week 10 - Interesting Brochure

Brochure

The brochure that made me had the first thought was from Peugeot’s new car Peugeot 208. It catches my attention with the huge colourful font infront of the page, with headline writing “Let your body drive” , as I flip through the page, it adds on few short quotes of people age around 18-30, and that’s when I notice their target audience are young adults. The whole brochure was a fun, providing the images of other colours they have for peugeot 208. Even the models used in the brochure, are young attractive people. Those quotes they add in are reflecting to the readers, for example, “ That’s right! SAFETY FIRST..” and “A lot of space, a lot of ME” and more. Those quotes, are actually representing the benefits Peugeot can give, attracting reader to read more.

They are great in providing information, most importantly, they shows the images of interior and exterior of the car, which because we, young people are lazy to read things that contains thousands of words. They even provide the extra benefits such as 5 years warranty and how it is good in a way that it is eco friendly. As stated in the brochure, 25% of total polumers come from recycled or natural materials, world’s first entirely recycled rear bumper, allowing the savings of 1,600 tonnes of oil in a year. That’s the point where we know saves oil means save money. The brochure is colourful, cheerful and fun! That is how they attract young people to read it.

- Week 9 Reflection -

To create an engaging and successful new media ad, a few aspects need to be considered. First, it is very important to determine the goal and main purpose of the ad, whether to create awareness, to promote something or to transmit information. A good ad must be goal-oriented. Secondly, keeping the ad short and simple is also very important. Avoid using jargons or flowery language because audiences might not be interested in reading long and complicated materials that are hard to understand. A short, simple and direct copywriting style is needed for creating headlines for engaging ads. Next, the visual of the ad need to be attractive so that it is noticeable among the multi-elements webpage. The visual aspects are also important to make audiences feel that there are something worth reading or seeing after the click on you ad. The benefit of clicking the link or ads need to be shown so that audiences will think that they are about to get something after clicking into your ad’s link. At the same time, an excellent new media ad need to call for action among its audiences. The ad should encourage audiences to action, depending on the goal of the ad, whether to get free sample from outlets, to try new product, to call for more information, to browse through the official webpage and others.

This is a Tesco banner ad that appears on the lower part of the webpage. This ad approach its audiences using super hero and space science quotes. The copywriting appears in the ad is short and simple, not more than 7 words. The quotes are used to attract audiences attention, showing that Tesco are putting effort in securing the food/products sending to your door step safely and freshly. The little clip art used in every part of the ad is very adorable and catchy, making the ad interesting. Lastly, the banner ad encourage audiences to engage with it through calling for action by logging on their webpage. The line used is “Find out what Tesco does to perfect the science of delivery” rather than a dull “Click for more information” or “Check out more”. By clicking on to the banner ad, audiences are linked to its official page of Tesco showing how the delivery process took place. Overall, I think this is a good ad because the visual is very attractive and simple wordings are used to ease understanding and attract interest.

-Week 9-

This is a banner ad by expedia.com.my. It is interesting and capturing attention because only 5 words were used in the banner ad, which is “Get to know your kopi”. The use of daily language of a Malaysian, “kopi”, makes the ad approach its audiences in a friendly way besides using conversational tone. This banner ad also encourage its audiences to interact with it just by rolling over the mouse.

2.  (when mouse scroll over)

3. (pop-up that appears after clicking on banner ad)

4.

5.

6.

7.

After rolling though the banner ad, a pop up appears in the screen. The ad approach audiences by asking what types of coffee they like. This ad is very culture-based and locational because majority Malaysian likes coffee in their own ways. This pop-up interact with their audiences as the audiences pick their choices, there are different results appear. After the result is shown, there are places that are recommended for the coffee that audiences prefer. This shows that Expedia.com.my is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy website that knows a lot about travelling, food and so on, even they know how to find you your favourite coffee. The visual of the ad is very attractive, it makes people wanted to know more about it. In the pop-up, after telling audiences the recommended place for their favourite coffee, the line “Best-nya kopi! Let Expedia bring you there” shows that Expedia is a travel-related organisation that helps travellers to organise their travel schedules, transportations and accommodations. Also, this ad is good in the aspect that before audiences leaving the pop-up of closing it, a information box appears asking whether audiences like to find out more, this is calling for action among audiences to log on to their website.

Week 7 - Reflection

Good elements of a radio commercial

From our point of view, most radio ads with music is more memorable, such as POP soda drinks and YORK cooling-king air-con. Their jingles, rhythm and lyrics are easy to remember, and audiences will sing along. The lyrics must be sing clearly and pitch perfect. Besides that, the name of the brand product must be repeated at least 3 times, so the audiences will always know what is the radio ads for. It has to deliver meaningful content but not just talking nonsense or keep promoting the product. Producer have to know the audiences' needs and interests, then focus on it to grab attention and activates their purchase action. A good radio commercial engage with listeners so that they can identify with the characters, situations, and events. Next, the messages must be match with the expectation of the audiences from the radio commercial. If the radio commercial highly recommend the product's characteristics, then the audiences will expect the high quality of that particular product.

Week 7 - TVC 2

This ad give the audiences an unexpected storyline. It is creatively presented. At the beginning, the first thought would be the fish will be eaten. This grabs the attention of the audiences as they would like to know whether their guess is correct or not. But in the end, surprisingly the fish barked and the cat ran away. This ad brings message to the audiences directly that language is very important, and we can learn at Ukraine Arsenal. It encourages people to learn more language in a way to have a better life.
